Ray
Ray R. Regan has taught "Patent Law & Policies" at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Mr. Regan's Article about trade secrets, "Protecting the Unprotected," won first place in the State Bar of New Mexico's 1993 Legal Writing Contest. He presented the litigation seminar for the National Business Institute, July, 1994. In November, 1996, Ray presented a paper at the Southwestern Legal Foundation Intellectual Property Conference in Dallas on the topic of "Trademark Opposition Practice." His article about trademark oppositions was published in May, 1997, in Intellectual Property Today (The Law Works), a national monthly magazine devoted to intellectual property issues for patent lawyers. On January 16, 1998, Ray was a featured speaker at the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Association's conference about trademarks and trademark litigation. Ray's
Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory rating is AV. He is listed among the
Preeminent Lawyers in America. He is a graduate of the United States Military
Academy at West Point with a B.S. in Engineering. He has lived in New
Mexico since 1965. His Juris Doctor degree is from the University of New
Mexico School of Law, and he is licensed to practice law in New Mexico
and Colorado. It is not generally known, but registered U.S. Patent Attorneys,
in addition to passing state bar examinations, must qualify for, and successfully
complete, the U.S. Patent Bar Examination. Ray is past president of the
Rio Grande Intellectual Property Association. Ray also is a member of
the American Intellectual Property Law Association, Federal Circuit Bar
Association (the Federal Circuit is the Court of Appeals with primary
responsibility for patent cases), and the New Mexico Bar Association.
